Top Of The World Still... =P
erm lost count... mebbe... 18th june'2004?
lessons were getting more n more fun!!! i especially loved the art lessons!! ahha remembered the first time we did picture frames, ye naing win drew a sun and wrote "moon" (or was it vice versa??) ehhe i very evil, laughed at him =p the kids are really super cute, simply copied whatever we did!! until we had to create our own master-pieces in secret so that they can let their creative juices flow!! another highlight of the day was the skit competition... team b actually got to join team a during one of the sch days... i wriggled into weijing's skit grp with lao ban and whoa!! it was so much fun!!! theirs was a police, good citizens, bad guys, innocent victims skit, drama-packed lor!! hee had a mini rehearsal that was super funny!! with me, weijing and lao ban role-playing the bad guy, the good citizen and the helpless damsel in distress respectively... weijing and i did a slow-motion flying punch kungfu scene worthy of the oscar awards while lao ban was super convincing as the helpless damsel!!! *chuckles* had the whole group in giggles... oh yar they just can't stop giggling especially when i spoke burmese, like "kao-del!" (good!) and "ma kao bu!" (no good!) it came to a pt whereby the guys will speak on my behalf and say "kao del!" at the appropriate times... haha even the one student who refuses to speak join in the teasing!!! yep i remember his name was win min... dunno why, i was extremely touched that he actually said "kao del!" when he had seemed extremely unwilling to open his mouth previously... sigh miss them so much!! though it was only one short lesson... still remember there's a v sweet girl called zin mar win =)
after a long day in sch, the netball competition awaits!!!! with zhimin umpiring, a fierce fight ensued btw the 4 different teams, with the girl-players having an unfair disadvantage due to difficulty in running in longyis... =P hai i have to sit at the sidelines lor cos of sprained ankle mah. was a really good show to watch!! realised that enhao can catch any high ball (jumps like a nba player man!) and that guys can be super violent when playing these kind of games!! oh yar and alec will always do a victory jiggly dance of joy hahaha very cute =D following the netball championships, the guys went on to play soccer... with the exception of lao ban, who has sustained a cut on his foot during the netball competition... (told u it was a violent game) wahhhh tink the feng shui does not favour team b ppl!!!
shaofeng starring in "myanmar soccer" =P
the days flew by, saturday soon came! we were due in the village hospital to conduct lessons, but before that team b was lazing in the tea shop... it was at this point in time that i saw a familiar face: my little "boyfriend"!!! haha ok before you brand me as a pedophile, i must say that i am NOT! just that this little boy (his name is ahh jiong i tink) is super cute, and he always wait at the gate in the morning for us, and will always walk back with us when we go back for lunch. hence i remember his face and inevitably fell in love with him... he's abt 9 yrs old i tink... very very cute!!! oh yar back to the main pt, he was selling quail eggs! i couldnt bear to see him selling eggs when he ought to be playing on a saturday, so ended up buying all 51 eggs! thx to sijin who oso contributed to this worthy cause! =D tink he was quite shocked when he walked away with his empty basket... i took a photo with him!!! super happy yayay!! =D
that night was rather special, we went to the dam for dinner. poor huiting just fell sick, with fever and bouts of nausea. sigh. i sant on the motorbike to the restaurant beside the dam!! yahoo! and i promptly fell in love with a little girl there... she's sooo very sweet! this is really indescribable, you have to see the photos to know what i mean... she doesn't say a word, but her actions, her smiles, her eyes say so much! (reminds me of ronan keating's when u say nothing at all) since i was the only one in the restaurant, i played with her, jiggling her on my lap and singing songs to her before the rest came... and she's such a good child! didn't cry, and was jiggling in tune to the music!! i was mesmerised. only when the rest arrived did i give her up to her momma. after going to the dam, we returned to the restaurant to eat, oh but all me n sijin wanted to do was play with her!!! and her momma took her to pluck flowers for us, so sweet right? *beams* later when they told me she's 2.5 yrs old but still couldnt walk, i was really scared that there was smthg wrong. luckily zhimin, kok wee, lao ban etc did a check and concluded that all seems to be in order. it would have been terribly sad if she can't walk! after a ktv session. we all headed back home... as kaung zaw wanted to drink, i rode pillion with another friend (i tink) of aung hein who had fetched me before... it was late at night before we realised that aung hein's cousin gopal (i hope spelling's correct) got injured while riding kaung zaw's bike. over 5 ppl were tending to him by the light of torches... it was quite a chilling thought to realise that someone so close to us had actually became so badly injured.
sunday dawned!!! but stormy grey clouds foretold a wet wet day ahead. and so it was that huiting, phyo, ye naing win, gopal and i were to recuperate at home while the rest go to the outlying villages. was quite sad to see them off while we had to stay behind. oh but i was soon busy cleaning and redressing gopal's wounds, of which i am proud to say i did not once flinch when i was dressing his wounds! tink the first-aiders were quite worried i couldnt stand the sight of the wounds. i tink i was too inept though, i didnt really know what to do!! i can only do as best a job as i know how... sorry gopal, i didnt expect the procedure to take 3 hours!!! oh but was very touched when ye naing win said i was like florence nightingale... mebbe i didnt do such a bad job after all sigh. gopal was my first official "patient" woah! he's super brave, always say that its not painful even though it looked super painful... *applause*
meanwhile huiting was in the care of phyo, and was running a high fever. i was really scared witless!! they sort of left me in charge but i was super underqualified to serve as an advisor!! i can only suggest a sponge bath which luckily seemed to help abit. after lunch i finally get to talk to huiting yay she seems much better!! we got ye naing win to sing our favourite burmese song "dogaro" for us... he got a really nice voice! after which huiting managed to eat porridge hooray! and promptly fell asleep... while phyo stayed to look after us, me and ye naing win went to the tea shop for awhile... he taught me some more burmese words and talked about his family... his father was a doctor! but passed away when he was just 7 years old. i felt really sad for him, he was so young then! sigh sometimes life is just so unfair yar? tink his mom must be a super strong woman to have brought up 4 children all by herself! his eldest sis is now a nurse and will be coming to s'pore to work soon. as for him, he loves philosophy and is interested in coming s'pore to study next year! yay hope that he can realise his dream! =D gambatte! in the teashop, ye naing win sort of "adopted" me as his younger sister, and i remembered him saying to me "you must be happy ok?" in all seriousness... wahh i really feel very touched at that point in time, almost as if i really have a real brother!
huiting is sick...
ye naing win singing "do ga ro" for us =)
the rest of the days passed in a blur, but never was a day monotonous for me. i will never tire of waving hi to the kids!! my skit-group students will also come and visit me, for which i'm really very very happy!!! origami lessons were really interesting, though we ended up folding most of the stuff for the kids hee. even the teachers were very interested in learning!! i tink that's the most gratifying part when one is a teacher, that you actually have eager pupils... *beams* i love myanmar!!! i love letpapbya!!!
