Top Of The World... Day 2 onwards =D

14th june'2004

wonders of wonders, i did not feel seriously homesick... =) after my super short slp, i woke up to find tt the whole world is awake!! wow! n its only 530am!! even the "slept like logs" huiting and mavis were awake!! haha yay i took sm time to moan abt my swollen eyelid, tried to take a photo to serve as proof of the irresistible draw my eyelids have on mosquitoes n all flying eekies... after breakfast me n sijin headed off to do welfare shopping!! yay! accompanied by sennie, kok wee, phyo phyo, alec and okkar! wah sijin fully demonstrated her ah-sohness by haggling her way thru and all the uncles n aunties just couldnt resist her charms n gave us alot of discounts!! =D it was quite a traumatic trip for both of us, cos we were trying to be as demure as possible... wah bet no one would have believed we could be so soft-spoken and gentle lor hahaha... i almost died. =P when we went hm, we resumed our norm raucous selves!!! hee.
after frantic packing, we were on our way to take the bus to letpapbya... spirits were running high, and i wasn't even worried abt my motion-sickness!!! once on the bus, we busied ourselves taking photos, admiring the scenery, singing our throats hoarse(me, huiting, lao ban and phyo were singing late into the night), and listening to the burmese songs being played!! woohoo tts life! me n huiting concluded that burmese songs r REALLY nice!! ting esp loved one singer called alex (i tink)... most memorable part of the journey: toilet (ein thar)! there was one tt was simply a hole n from what others said, was infested with creepy crawlies and cockroaches... wahhhhh at tt pt in time i really wanted to be a guy!!! then no need to use toilet can settle my business anywhere... phwar took alot of courage for me to step into the toilet... it was like fear factor lor!! but felt really proud of myself after tt!! *victory sign* had a lovely supper of prata.... *swoon*

yay!!! survived the bus-ride and reached the village at ard... 5am?? went to check out the two houses in which we would stay and went to take a look at the sch. now, i never ever thought i would see such a breath-taking sight: when we stepped into the sch, it was like a scene straight out of a storybook. there was an air of serenity, and everythg just looked so... untouched. butterflies were flitting everywhere, and the school looked very much like a place tt has never been entered by man. i was awe-struck. speechless. i fell in love with the place.

after a flurry of activity (moving our barang-barang into the hses etc), we lined up outside the sch gate to attend the welcoming ceremony.the kids formed 2 lines flanking the little path leading to the main compound, and it was at this time we realised our Superstar status. it was quite uncomfortable to be treated with such formality at first, but in later days i realised that we just feel so... natural being with the students! there was no awkward moments or anythg of that sort... =) after the ceremony whereby alot of ppl made speeches (i regret to say tt i was dozing off due to severe lack of slp), sm of which struck a chord in my heart. i would haf forgotten this if huiting had not mentioned it to me recently... abt one of the speakers talking abt how it is that fate brought us together, how it was thru fate that our paths crossed in this little village, far apart though singapore and myanmar are. i tink it's true, how abt you? just smthg to tink abt...

after a long day, we had a long-awaited bath!!! yay! the bathrm comprises of a large water-tank and had concrete walls and sm covering acting as a ceiling... whooppee!!! me, huiting, sijin n mavis called it our 7-star spa facility... very shiok!!! =D at night, we set up our precious mosquito nets and proceeded to slp like the dead... but not before me n xinyi got lost n almost walked out of the house's gates! me, sharon, xinyi n mich were under one net, while huiting, sijin n mavis were under another... the guys? heh, anywhere, everywhere!! shaofeng was the door-keeper aka men-shen, aung hein can b found sprawled in various different spots each morn.. etc... nitey nite! zzzzzzzzz
